Why I use Argentium Silver for hand-wired chain and ear wires

Argentium is a great source of silver, especially when hand-wiring intricate chain and making ear wires, for a variety of reasons.

It has a higher purity than sterling, being whiter in color than platinum, white gold, palladium and traditional sterling, much like the brilliance of pure silver. It is superior in strength, giving added durability to a piece which may endure wear and tear, such as a chain. It is also highly tarnish resistant, making it easy to care for.

Argentium is suitable for those who are unable to wear traditional sterling silver due to its antibacterial and hypoallergenic properties.

For these reasons, pairing an Argentium chain with jewelry components made of pure silver brilliantly compliments one another and work beautiful together.

Care

When not wearing your silver jewelry, keep in a cool, dark place, and store separately from other pieces of jewelry to prevent any chance of scratching or tangling with each other. You can also use anti-tarnish strips with your jewelry to help prevent tarnishing.

Hot water from the tap and harsh dish soap or detergent scan permanently damage silver. Also, contact with stainless steel utensils will cause silver to develop black spotting that does not come off.

To clean your silver jewelry, use a mix of mild dish soap and warm water. Dip a clean cloth in the solution and gently rub the silver until it shines. You can even let the jewelry to soak in a small dish for a short time. Rinse and dry. With a little research, you'll find other cleaning methods that work just as well while being safe for your jewelry.
